Bipolar Residents

Living on campus, can be an exciting experience or a disappointing one for some. Living on campus is an opportunity for students to have the experience of living away from home, learning to be independent, and experience the true college life. However, for some it might be not what they expected.

Residents have to share restrooms and it means less privacy, and sharing. "People have clogged the toilet so many times this semester, that it just makes it so hard to get ready and use the restroom comfortably because we have to share it with the other suite-mates," says Jared Leewood, third year resident.

For other residents, having a roommate isn't such an issue and get along. "I don't mind my roommate at all, we get along great. Sometimes he's not even here so I get to have the room to myself, its pretty nice," says Efren Espinoza, first year resident in Parkside Commons.

Snow Much Fun!

This December, residents get the opportunity for an exciting trip and the opportunity to give back to the community.

Sign-up for the Snow Valley Ski and Snowboarding Trip which will take place on December 4, Friday, from 6am to 6pm. Cost is $34 with own gear and $39 with rental.

Also, give back to the community by doing stocking stuffing for seniors of Magnolia Royale Retirement Home at Parkside Dining Hall. Event will take place Thursday, December 3, 9pm to midnight. There will be decorating of stockings and ornaments.

Thanksgiving Break, Reminder

Reminder for residents staying in the residence halls over Thanksgiving break to register at their hall office by 12:00 noon on Tuesday, November 24 at no extra charge.

According to Residence Hall Offices, the university does not recommend or encourage students to stay over the break. Security will be an issue because there won't be any. Students are responsible or their personal safety. Guests are also not permitted in the halls during the break.

It is important, that if you do stay, make sure all exterior doors are locked at all times. If you have any particular possessions that are important, keep them with you at all times.

Decided To Top Or Bottom?

Residents were able to discuss sex on November 10 with Human Sexuality professor Christopher Warren; who resides in the Parkside Commons.
Residence Assistants, who sponsored the event, began the discussion by playing ice breakers so the audience can feel comfortable. Some questions asked were "Who is single and taken?" "Long Term Relationship or Swinger?" Students had to pick a choice and separate themselves from one side of the room to the other.

The discussion covered topics such as female to male orgasms, sexually transmitted diseases, and health facts, such as 10% of people aged 20-29 are virgins. He told an interesting story of a couple who was under the influence of alcohol and wanted to experiment with anal sex. The girl ended up defecating on her boyfriend's penis, and the boyfriend ended up throwing up all over the place. He fell off a bunk bed, breaking his arm. After the story, he explained that the best time to explore anal sex is when both partners are clean, conscious of what they're doing,
relaxed, and using a lot of lube.
